I don’t often do morning shoots with my family and rigid schedule, but every so often I can squeeze one in and this desert family shoot is one of them. When looking for morning locations, my usual spots won’t do. When the lighting is all wrong for those shoots in my favorite spot, I have to get out of my location box and scout around. This spot was perfect for a morning desert family shoot. Mom choose the perfect combination of muted pastel clothing and everyone looked amazing.
You can see I play games with the families to keep the kids engaged and relaxed. Common games are follow the leader, look at your favorite, who does this, and tickle fights. Then we will do a more traditional pose, then we play again. This back and forth keeps the flow light so the kids have breaks between images and don’t feel bossed around the whole time. Showing the emotion and relationship connections between you is what I am aiming for. As I get a feel for your family and the session progresses, I know better what your children respond to and we do more of that.
So if you’ve ever had a shoot you felt like the photographer didn’t engage your children as you would like, I’d love to have you try a session with me. There will be giggles, tickles, swinging, kisses, and sword fights, if necessary. My goal is to create an experience your family looks forward to each year. If they don’t absolutely hate it, then we will chalk that up as a win!
If it’s been more than 2 years since your last family photo, it’s long past time for an update!!! Those precious faces change and grow too fast. Contact me today to get on my schedule.
